not only the team but the light, was played in near darkness, no lights. 3 points down at 3/4 time, i disappeared for about 10 mins, bang 5 goal blowout. we didn't do enough when we had the wind, they did. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

The Willy guys got a 10 minute run on and put the game out of our reach. To their credit the boys came back and ran the game out well.
What cost us again is not so much the fade out, but the inability to covert sustained pressure into goals. The last 15 minutes of nthe 3rd were all Collingwood yet the Gulls took a 2 point lead into the break and were coming home with the breeze.
A very good showing by the boys but truth be told they can still play alot better. When they start converting opportunities we will see some big scores. With Box Hill next, this could be the springboard they need to finish off the season. Bare in mind they are still just two games out of the eight. _________________ "MAKE COLLINGWOOD GRATE AGAIN" |

D4P how did the boys go clearance wise?
Was it Willy's running players or forwards that got on top of us in the last?
Cheers |

I left with 10 mins to go as it was freezing ...
A more improved effort against the top side but still a last quarter fade out.
The fact the Rohan Frost at 191cms was forced to ruck in the centre at one stage is down right scary.
What happens if Bryan or Wood cop an injury with Josh under a cloud, we are screwed.
Good thing was that Presti did some good things and Coxy put his body on the line in a marking contest and was KO'd by a late Peter Street bump.
Eventually this non aligned team will work out but they have some massive issues with fitness and player quality.
Another positive was the good form of Jack Anthony up forward and Macaffer snagged a few goals again. |

Shame Turtle, you missed the boys staging a mini comeback of sorts.
Frankly i think the team only lacks one thing. Penetration on the scoreboard. For too many games this year we have dominated play for patches of 5, 10 or even 15 minutes and scored nothing. It happened again today in the third quarter. It happened against Sandi and Casey at different times. We fail to convert our opportunities and our opponents capitalise on this. Willi did that early in the forth and killed off what had been a very competitive game.
I dissagree with your comments on player quality.
Players I like and have shown enough to warrant selection at VFL level:
Nigel Carmody
Kris Pendlebury (may well join his bro at AFL level if he keeps up this form)
Ryan Colbert
Rohan Daniel Frost
Liam Jurrah
Justin Crow (Was outstanding today on his own against taller/bigger rotating rucks)
Daniel Nicholls (Consistantly in the best)
The Pies players available for selection have been far to inconsistent for any real structures to be built and this business of having AFL emergencies missing a game all togther just in case they are needed is bollocks. Play them in the Magoos and if they are needed the next day they can play two games. Heater did it and got BOG in both games and it launched his AFL career. _________________ "MAKE COLLINGWOOD GRATE AGAIN" |

A little dissappointing Caff hasn't been given a go in the seniors yet. A few years ago we were as bold as anything and giving guys a go if they fit the bill for need. We need a forward I think he should've played this week but I doubt he'll get a go now because Davis and the rest will be back for Syd.
Justin Crow has always been a little underrated but I reckon that's because he makes himself looks like such a dork with the harry high pants thing _________________ He won't be going anywhere

For fear of pissing of Dale, much like last week the start of Willy's run was helped a little by some dodgy umpiring (not that it wouldn't of happened regardless but it certainly took the wind out of our sails).
Crow is as honest as the day is long, he's a bloke who will give his all everytime, will he win every contest, no, but you are never left wondering what might have happened if he put more in. (and I respect his tucked in jumper, socks up deal, it's how I was brought up to go onto the footy field, albiet with the top of the shorts just a tad below the nipples)
This game proved once again the class of John Anthony. |

No offence taken, but I listened to the game via the radio stream and even Phil Cleary mentioned that the umps were favouring Collingwood by giving them soft frees in the first quarter.
Maybe the umps evened it up in the last. _________________ Whale
