DTM instead of spamming the thread with posts which reiterate other's posts, post something constructive, or nothing at all.
Thanks. |

Very sad result. I don't want to criticise Rowdy, but has he lost the players? You can't take shellacking after shellacking and expect these guys to develop a winning culture when we expect them to step up to the firsts. This is a real dilemma as we have too many young kids with real potential for them to be damaged by exposure to this shite week in week out.
At the mid-point of the season we have to say the stand-alone VFL team is a hopeless failure. I want to be positive - believe me. Some of these kids have genuine potential, but the string of BAD loses are taking their toll on the psyche of impressionable boys. Remember that most of these kids have come from junior comps where they were (i) the star player in their team, and (ii) their team was winning (otherwise our recruiters wouldn't have even looked at them).
Something is not right and the football department now has to make some hard calls. The consequences are too serious to let this happen much longer. The rationale for our VFL team was that they would play the game plan MM has developed for the firsts. I see absolutely no evidence of that at all, and have to conclude (sadly, because he is a club legend and I know I'll be attacked for this) Gavin Brown can't coach. |

Not everything in footy, or life, is short term.
Again, Jack Spain, how much of the VFL side have you seen? |

1st year, SURELY Rowdy can at least finish the year out with some clear objectives for the 2nd half of the year. No need for panic. More need for objectives. _________________ Buon Giorno |

I understand that the VFL side is about player development, but surely getting belted each week like this cant be great for players confidence.
No matter which level you play at, a winning culture is a good culture and great for confidence, enthusiasm and team spirit. |

Reid stepped up today and gave us something in the firsts. I think we should bite the bullet and bring Wood back up to replace Fraser who desperately needs a rest. But I agree with you spoljar about developing a winning culture. These VFL floggings have got to hurt. |

Exactly J26. And the club has repeatedly stated that the aim of the VFL side is to develop players for senior footy. |

Brown is not the answer as VFL coach. Fact. I say this now and I said it before Round 1 and I said it when the announcement was made. Period. _________________ "If they are to trying to get revenge they will lose" - MM classic one liner in the lead up to the Port game. |

But when the mids are getting flogged, how does that develop guys like Reid and Dawes. It does give the Backs plenty of practice though!
Reids game on the weekend was the best I've seen for a while from him including the VFL.
Question to the VFL watchers. When did Reid develop that stuttering set shot at goal approach?
He did the same thing in the warm up, so wasn't surprised when his shot at goal came with that ridiculous approach.
What coach is allowing him to kick like that. There is no way in the world that, that approach to a set shot provides balance or momentum when kicking. What is going on???????? |
