I don’t mean the little ones here and there. I mean the full on jobs that cost hundreds of dollars. What do you think? What do you think when you see a male or a female with plenty of art work on them? Male it’s ok, female it isn’t? Sure it’s personal choice, but it’s not like a car you can’t trade it in and get another. |
They've become a lot more culturally acceptable. The stigma that was associated with them in the previous generation, doesn't exist in the newer one.
Gen Y is about instant gratification, not many of them think too hard about whether what they like at 20 will they be still happy with at 50.
Body Piercing is similar, the main difference is that in most cases, you can take them out and the hole will in time close up. When you've got a hole in your earlobe that can hold a piece of garden hose, that's not going to heal quick.
My son is planning on getting one, we've discussed it. I approve of his choice of themes and location, but I have (repeatedly) reminded him not to get something done that he may live to regret. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

And used by the lowest common denominator. |
Mate, as a person who runs a business near two tatooinst, I have to say, I also held this exact same stereotype before I met them and the people they tattoo.
The old stereotype of the big bald bikie getting a tattoo is way off the mark. The blokes running the tattoo shops are very talented and have blown me away with their designs and business knowledge.
Also many people get tattoos of loved ones that have passed away as a constant memorial and tribute to them. I hardly would call them the lowest common demoinator. Some of the designs and reasons behind them are actually very touching. |

The one thing that stops me from ever considering getting something done, is seeing old people with tattoos... they just don't look so great when you're 50 years old... |
Bit of an ageist here David..hope when you get to 50 you will realise that you are not really OLD and you will feel just like I do by anyone who suggests you are |
Sorry, didn't mean to offend. 50 was just a wild estimate of some of the people I've seen. I was also stereotyping a bit, as I'm sure some 50 year olds could still make their tattoos look good. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Why did you get Tats PP? any reason? |
well, i've always been against tattoos, but one birthday a few years ago i woke up and thought..........i'm getting a tattoo......and i did.......I chose very carefully as i wanted it to be something that would mean something to me. So, i had a tattoo on my lower back which represents my daughter and myself.
And then exactly 12 months later i got another one to express that i had finally morphed out of the abyss i'd been in
now i want one to show........ _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

because i think the 3 chinese characters which make up my name are actually quite beautiful....and it's certainly easier than the 10 letters in my name! _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |
