Way off the mark, FS. Perhaps your remark was sarcastic.
If it wasn't, you seem to think all parents are capable of a consistent form of common sense.
Becoming a parent doesn't necessarily make one a 'good' parent. |
i think your being disparaging to me and not Frank Stone as he was quoting my comment! _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

What's your sign? That remark was either too complex or too simple for me. We were talking about [quoteMAGFAN8][quoteFrank Stone]Yes PP a parents common sense approach will win out. Do you prefer books or TV? |

Whoever Donny was referring to his Point has Merritt. Just because you pop out a kid doesn't make you a brainiac, these days more so with the Baby bonu$. |
go back and read my comment and then Frank's comment based on that. I didn't see any sarcasm. And i certainly didn't get ANY Baby Bonus. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

What you said was either too complex or too simple for me. How did you hear about HAL? Can we get back to business? How do you usually introduce yourself? |

No not sarcastic at all.
However its just as stupid to assume every parent is unable raise their children. You got a lot more out of most post than I put into it.
Also, can you direct me to where I used the words ALL PARENTS, I can't seem to find it (Now that is sarcasm) _________________ The one man in the world, who never believes he is mad, is the madman. |

Their everywhere I see kids having kids, not just one but two or three and it's obvious they have no idea. I know of one couple that live in emergency housing paying less than $50 a week for a one bedroom flat. They are $1200 behind, just had a baby and are waiting for the baby bonus to catch up on the rent, yet they have NO money for Nappies formula ect. |
Sorry but people with such little sense as to have kids when they obviously cant provide for them should be made sterile.
Parents not being able to provide for their kids adequatly is abit of a raw area with me. |
What criteria do we use to sterilise people, money, intelligence, status, social isolation ??? What exactly?
How can you predict what a parents circumstances might be in say 5 years time? By then its too late of course, you have sterilised them?
I think they had a similar policy in Germany in 1939 didn't they? _________________ The one man in the world, who never believes he is mad, is the madman. |

saying some people shouldn't be allowed to have children is like saying some people shouldn't vote.
It's kind of true, but who's going to take that right away, and how could they possibly do it? _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

It's not true at all, it's totalitarian, elitist nonsense.
You don't restrict the number of people who vote and who have children according to some academic criteria, you bloody well educate everyone equally and ensure that everyone has access to relatively unbiased information on which to make their decisions.
The sheer nerve of you David... The assumption implicit when you (and others) say sh!t like "some people shouldn't have the right to vote" is that you are smart enough to set a criteria and pass judgement on others... ARGH what a horrible, elitist perspective.
If you don't see the problem with that view at a theoretical level, here's another way to present the argument (more negatively).
Assuming we put into place some criteria for voting, what makes you think that you would qualify for being able to vote anyway? I'm sure there's more intelligent people out there, maybe they should rule, not us. Maybe the person with the highest IQ score should rule over us mere plebs. Sound good to you?

Omar, that was exactly my point...?
my comment that it was 'kind of true' is referring to the fact that some people are more aware of what exactly they're voting for, etc. In other words, your vote is probably the result of more consideration than mine. Does that mean you should be allowed to vote and not me? No, because there is no way that that could possibly be implemented, and goes against the whole concept of democracy. Democracy may be imperfect, but it is the best system I am aware of. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Sorry if I misunderstood, but your post exactly attack the idea, rather, it seems to be questioning it's viability as opposed to it's underlying morality.
Oh, and it's not that Democracy is flawed, it is that Liberal Democracy is flawed... we are yet to try any other forms. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks... - Eugene Debs |
