I picked Josh. No disrespect to SSB but he's got one to two seasons left in him and I reckon he'd be better off without the burden of captaincy. He doesn't need a title to be a leader anyway. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Agreed Stui, Burnsy, I feel, will be a pinch hitter from the bench more times than not, (with mighty effect I might add). I voted for Josh. He's apparantly stuck his hand up now as a candidate, ticks all the leadership boxes in my mind. Mind you numerous candidates would be worthy in my opinion. Heater and Maxy among them. _________________ Enjoy yourself. Its later than you think! |

good idea getting a poll going.
Cmon guys get behind lockyer, it has to be him. Interesting to see not one person has picked Maxwell as yet.
I feel giving him the number 5 has actually made people lose respect for him as opposed to gain it. _________________ There's more to life than footy.........just not much more. |

Not so much nxt Bucks but at least nxt gun player not a solid player who struggles with his own form every 2nd week. |

Burns.
As for Maxwell getting Number 5. How does that make people lose respect for him ???? _________________ Collingwood FOREVER.

I haven't lost respect for Maxwell because of what number he wears. I've actually warmed up to him more over the course of the season because of the way he approaches the contest every single time like his life depended on it and whether he was in good form or not. He may well be one of the first picked every week but I just don't see him as captain.
However, keep in mind our last premiership captain was slow, couldn't kick over a jam tin, one sided and hardly in the top few best players in the team when it came to ability but had a ferocious determination to succeed and to get to the contest when the body was saying "Stop".
His successor was more skilled but equally as determined.
It's not skill and match winning ability that determines the captain. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Shaw may not of been the most skilled but he was regularly around the pill fighting to win possesion, he shore as hell didn't only average 11 possi's a match (thats with Maxwell playing largely as the j.cloke role). |

I think burnsy as it for 1-2 years then we can better judge the credentials of Maxwell, Pendlebury, Cloke, Shaw, Clarke etc etc.
I also agree it doesn't need to be the best player, sometimes it is better just to let them play, we were bleased that Bucks could lead and play!!! _________________ SA MAGPIES MEMBER

I didnt mean what i said as a snipe towards maxwell...im just noticing a general trend that the fanfare for Maxwell has dropped off since it was announced he would wear the number 5. There wouldve been more votes for Maxwell had this poll been done at the end of the finals series. I actually think we are been harsh on him, but i share the sentiments of many that it was the wrong choice to give him the number 5. _________________ There's more to life than footy.........just not much more. |

"tis only my opinion, but I think Bucks should be honoured forever by giving the captain his No5 to wear. My vote goes to Nick and he would do it proud. No1 means nothing now Eddie:) |

We've done this about three times - I'll have a look for the threads in a moments time...
...however my mindset remains the same: Burns > Didak > Fraser > Maxwell/H.Shaw > Pendlebury> Lockyer. |
