Post subject: I got my "red card" today | |
|
The "red card" is what you get after doing a OH&S induction course and allos you to work on building and construction sites in Vic.
I did it at NMIT Heidelberg campus. Not a bad course, run by a mad scotsman whose father and grandfather worked in the scottish coalmines before Thatcher shut them down. real mixed bag of people there, Sparkie's, plumbers (whole group of them with their boss), a scottish bricklayer who'd been in Australia less than a week.
proved to me that it's been too long since I made my brain work or I'm getting dementia, in 2 ways.
1. I know all the basics of EEO, OH&S etc really well, but the info was going in one ear and out the other.
2. I met a cute girl and it didn't occur to me until I was back in my car after the course to ask for her number. I'm so lousy with names I can't even remember that.
So, if anyone knows a slim brunette who works at a family business in the Heidelberg area that does work for yarra council laying pipes and roadworks, who attended the same course today with a guy who works with her, PM me her number.
Please. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Good onya Stui for getting the brain working again!
Does that "red card" allow you to work on sites up in Port Douglas? _________________ Kaylene.

Dunno. the Red card doesn't expire. In NSW I think it's a blue card and QLD it's a green card. They don't go into legislative detail so theoretically the would be transferrable but................
BTW, I think the girls name was Sonia. Surname something unpronounceable. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Here I was thinking a red card means you are a member of the Communist Party! _________________ Whale

I work in TAFE in QLD and to transfer your red to a Green up here you have to sit a gap assessment. _________________ All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Happy Red Card stui!!
As far as doing a course to obtain it, you do know that no-one fails this course. Why? Because the trainer only gets paid for the people who pass. |

That would explain why there was no assessment at the end. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

The assessment is just a "judgment" by the teacher.

"Most unsatisfactory."
