Today a truck and a train collided in Nunawading(sp) on Springvale Road(or is it Street?) I am not sure more of the details but it held up all the trains going towards Ringwood so Connex organised buses for the passengers to go on but it took them a decent amount of time before even one showed up.

By the time some buses came the train was up and running even though it was labelled the Belgrave train it seemed all the people were able to get home ok.

But what about the crash? I have not heard much more about that.

The train driver was slightly injured.
The semi had "broken down" with the trailer still across the tracks.
I'm familiar with the intersection and have to say I doubt the truck had broken down. People make a habit of trying to beat the boom gates and frequently park on the tracks waiting for a green light to get the hell out of the way.

As DTM mentions it is like 3 collisions this year. Coincidently there are new laws in/or coming, that if you are caught running a boom gate, your license and/or car maybe taken from you.

They have installed a camera on one side of the intersection but it hasnt helped, about time they put the tracks underground like they did up the line, same with Mitcham Road where the accident was the other week, but the Labor government doesnt believe in spending money on anything important

But i also find it hard to believe that some of these are caused by running the boom gate, usually a fair wait between the gates coming down and the train arriving, its more people getting stuck because some moron installed pedestrian lights on both sides of the road and both sides of the crossing just a few metres away, 4 sets of pedestrian lights less than 30m away from the intersection cause the problems

I was standing there like an hour and it was irritating the Customer Service guys were getting pumped with abuse as I stood there hoping the train woud start because I didn't want to play find a try from Ringwood...I mean I already got lost once in the day.... Embarassed

Yeah I have seen that on my first day here we were waiting for one in Flinders Street to Mooroolbark and it was like 5 minutes late and I had my bag and it was annoying as hell standing around like that.
