off topic slightly, but i've been watching some amazing doco's on foxtel recently on WWII. if the russians had teamed up with the germans, italians and japanese (as the four major totalitarian states at the time), then they would have been much more powerful than the allies and would have won WWII. i never knew that.
russian's political system at the time was more in line with the germans but the the animosity and mistrust between the russians and germans from WWI and earlier, prevented them from getting together. (the russians immediately fell out with the other allies following the WWII victory).
food for thought. i wonder if we'd have a footy club. or what our country would be like.

| They sort of did Noddy, or at least they signed a non-agression pact that was in place until Hitler invade Russia in 1941. Like you say, would have been interesting though if they had of actually cooperated. Not sure if it would have changed the outcome of the war though. A stronger US-China Alliance would most likely have emerged and would have balanced Russia's influence and the US's industrial might would have been almost impossible to counter. Glad we'll never know though - not a big fan of sakai or vodka |

You think people would disagree with making decisions about their own life for themselves?
And you're misunderstanding the whole idea behind (mostly European) anarchism: think local, and then expand that collectivist mentality outwards.

Actually the were never "in" as such. It was just a case of your enemy is my enemy. It was opportunism on the Soviets' part to get a stranglehold on Eastern Europe as part of the spoils of victory. |

Mainly correct.
Except the Allies needed Russia to open up a substantial front in the East so that the invasion at Normandy would be less hazardous.
They didn't expect Russia to wipe out the Nazi's so comprehensively and get to Berlin first. That really pissed the Allies off.
