It was always going to happen, if not under Rudd, under Howard. Hillary or Obama or whoever will get the American soldiers out of Iraq before you can say 'abandonment' and we will dutifully follow (if we haven't done it first).

'Cutting and running' was going to be inevitable as soon as it became obvious that things weren't quite going to plan.

Personally, I find it despicable.
