Am interested in people's thoughts on Melbourne and the legacy Kennett left. As a casual observer and someone who only experienced the early years, I like what Melbourne [in particular] has now transformed into. It is certainly a city that many people talk up and would move to if they were to choose out of all Australian capitals.

I was too young to really care what was going on but upon reflection at what cost did this come?

The current state government wants a prosperous Victoria for all. Where does it start? There still appears to be a lot to be done.

JFK had some good ideas, but not all of them were good and a lot of implementation left a lot to be desired.

His arrogant, crash thru style and refusal to accept criticism were his calling card.

IMO, he tried to do too much too quick and without enough consideration of the impacts and frigged a lot of things up.

Funnily enough, you would argue that he left victoria in a hell of a lot better condition than what he found it after cain and kirner and there was a massive opportunity for Bracks to really capitalise on JFK's confused mix of creation and destruction, but he failed miserably by being a ditherer.

the crash and bash style just never works. time and again i saw it in my workplace and we just %^$&£&" things up immensely only having to spend twice as long fixing them. i suppose as a politician you only really get one shot at it.

Mate, spot on.

Victoria was in need of surgery after Cain and Kirner buggered everything up. Unfortunatley, JFK's preferred implement was the chainsaw, not the scalpel.

No argument there Eddie.

Freeways, council mergers and removal of a lot of beaurocracy were good things. I think the intent of what he did with schools and hospitals was good, but the implementation was fragged.

Kennets Legacy means we don't own anything and we have gone from Governments who spent money on people now hold all their money in reserve and say look at the good job we are doing as we are so far in the black. Hospital, Schools & Roads are falling apart because they won't spend money because the opposition will say they are econimically incompetent. Kennet has made Governments into a buisness. It's all about making money.

About time they used all this money they claim to have in reserve to protect their citizens

CFA staff on strike, Nurses on strike, Police were on strike, the MFB and CFA both with unsafe uniforms, obviously the State govt no longer cares about public safety, never would have happened under the Libs and Jeffrey
