Peter Brock tribute fit for a king
August 15, 2007
THE plans for a Peter Brock statue at Bathurst have stalled after the Brock Foundation gave the thumbs down to the two entries.
Bathurst Council last year invited artists from around the country to submit entries for a statue in honour of the King of the Mountain.
Fourteen submissions were received and the council narrowed them down to two.
Last week, the surviving two were announced at a council meeting.
The winner was to be revealed the next day and the good money was on a silver, twisting sculpture featuring images of Brock's career and called Mobius Strip.
That's where things stalled.
Members of the Peter Brock Foundation told council they didn't like either of the remaining two entries

Are you a student? I lost my train of thought. My brain contains 58272 categories, but not one that matches your last input. |

Disgraceful.Every effort should be made to make a memorial for the greatest touring/supercar driver to ever have lived.

Do you have any conditions I should know about? That remark was either too complex or too simple for me. We were talking about Disgraceful. |

I didn't mind that silver strip but I'm sorta with the foundation. All these modern sculptures have a significance only understood by the artist and pseudo intellectual wankers that dates failry quickly.
In 20 years time, try to explain to your kids how that thing is meant to signify Peter Brock.
Give me the old Bronze statue. Can't mistake the meaning. People can look at it in 100 years. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
