I've never worked an RDO system,(How did you win that, it's a condition in a minority of awards?), haven't worked a 38 hour week for 15 years, haven't had overtime for 10

So now we get closer to the heart of the matter.
Just because you do not enjoy any of these conditions, you consider that no-one else can.
I'm assuming you are;
A) An employer.
B) Jealous as hell.

Well just give back your Super, RDO and 38 hour week, they were all won by Unions over the past 25 years

I've never worked an RDO system,(How did you win that, it's a condition in a minority of awards?), haven't worked a 38 hour week for 15 years, haven't had overtime for 10 and the last time I looked, Super was bought in by the government.

Super was won by the BLF it was called BUS (Building Unions Super) The Hawke government passed it on to all workers because of the push by the ACTU.

History not one of you strong points then?

Spot on Frank Stone. It was a trade off. The ACTU agreed to moderate wages growth through the Accord in return for the government introducing super for all workers. Who would have thought. Atrade union responsible for positive social reform. Don't let things like health and safety legislation, the 8 hour day as standard, and the modern welfare state stand in the way of ideological opposition to organised labour.

As for unions no longer being relevant because these battles have already been won...I remember listening to a lecture from John Ralston Saul who is a Canadian academic, and one thing he said really stuck inmy mind. You don't get to keep things just because you won them. You have to constantly fight to keep them. Very valuable lesson.

Gee, the BLF. That most ethical organisation.

And here was I thinking that Super was just another public servant condition of employment that was passed onto the general population so as to have people and their employers fund their own retirement and drastically reduce reliance on the government funded old age pension.

So you got it wrong, never mind most of your rantings about Unions are wrong. But I really do find you an amusing little poster, you make me chuckle a lot.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. Rolling Eyes

BTW, like the "little" comment. About as accurate as the rest of your stuff.

And still wrong.

My turn, you are:
a) a union official
b) one of those entitlement minded employees who expect flexibility from your boss when you want time off on pay but expect overtime if you're asked to return the favour by coming in early one day
c) A muppet
d) all of the above

Dear oh dear. Stui, I'm shocked that you appear to be losing the argument and now need to resort to name calling.
Poor form.

Poor form.

I thought the argument was about the ethics (or lack thereof) of unions... that one looks pretty much unresolved at this point.

But you called Stui a politician. Now THAT'S name-calling Wink

It was before it was taken over by a bunch of crooks. Take a walk through the Rocks in Sydney next time you visit, and thank Jack Mundey for it!
