ABC TO REVIEW THEIR COVERAGE OF VFL - YOU CAN ASSIST IN ENSURING YOUR ABC CONTINUES ITS COVERAGE

In a surprising development this week, ABC TV acknowledged that they are considering their options in respect to their coverage of a range of sports including VFL football.

Get behind the VFL and show your support for our great game!

This review situation leaves the TXU VFL competition in a precarious position regarding its on-going viability.

Without ABC TV coverage the competition naming rights sponsor, TXU, other major support sponsors as well as the individual Club sponsors will no doubt re-consider their support which in turn will threaten the very competition we have worked so hard to make Australia's best State League.

Further, over the last decade the VFL has utlised its weekly ABC broadcasts taking a leading role in the support of Community Safety and Crime Prevention initiatives.

We urge not only VFL supporters but football and sports enthusiasts generally to assist us in ensuring that the ABC continues its broadcasting of VFL football and other sports by emailing and/or writing to the following decision influences ensuring that your opinion counts:

What i sent:

Dear Mr. Barlow,
I think the ABC should continue with their coverage of VFL matches, as many people do watch them. But, instead of having only one match per round, put two or more on as sometimes people are dissapointed with the match chosen. Maybe having one on Saturday and one on Sunday would work well with viewers, even if they are delayed.
Or, put an hour of higlights in, maybe on Sundays, of some of the matches. Like "Around the Grounds" on Channel 7.
I think the ideal matches to put on would be matches played either interstate or in the country, as more people would watch them because it would be harder for people living near or around the city (as many VFL supporters live in metropolitan Melbourne)
to get to these matches, and would like to see them live.
I hope you find my comments useful, and continue to televise the TXU VFL competition in the future.
Ella George.
