LOGIES organisers have been branded cruel and disgusting after wildlife widow Terri Irwin left the awards in tears.

She was forced to sit through harrowing footage from an interview taped soon after her husband Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin died.

She left Crown in an emotional state on Sunday night minutes after the interview was shown on a giant screen to a room full of tipsy celebrities and TV executives.

Cameras captured Ms Irwin looking bereft and shocked as the interview was played. It showed her tearfully describing the moment she learned her husband was dead.

Family friend and spokesman John Stainton said the segment was cruel. "It was awful. Truly, they couldn't have picked a worse clip.

"She was devastated when that clip was shown and the fact they (cameras) were cutting to her. She didn't know where to look or what to do."

One would have thought that she would have known that the interview was up for an award?

I was reading that article, just wondering how tasteless TV media could possibly be (although it would hardly be surprising behaviour).

However, if the interview being shown was up for an award, that is a different matter altogether... and it is somewhat convenient that the newspaper article chooses not to mention it.

It was up for an award and won...Also Steve was also being honoured with an award. So I'm sure she would have been aware that they would be showing clips. This would be upsetting for her but I'm sure she wouldn't have been surprised.

I read in todays Herald Sun that Terri Irwin's personal assistant rung Adam Hills during the week and said that she actually enjoyed his sketch and didn't take any offence to it at all.It was also written that Adam Hills had send a copy of the script to Terri Irwin prior to the Logies so she was fully aware of what was planned to be said.

It was not the Adam Hills piece that she was reportedly upset about. He used no footage of Irwin or his wife/children.
The footage referred to was taken by Ch9 and won a Logie which Ray Martin was happy to accept.
