Hi, we are trialling this before the season starts. Could match reports and the like please be posted in here. Each week on a Thursday the same sticky thread (only for the next match) will be posted), this will remain in the General Disucssion until the following Wednesday, at which stage it will be archived in the Match Forum and a new sticky will be up to replace it. Does that make sense? I repeated myself, but you get that! Enjoy!

I'm a bit nervous about this one.
We are obviously a better team than Hawthorn but traditionally they perform well in this pre-season competition whilst we don't.
It'll be good to see Lica back. I'd like to see some more of our summer recruits too, such as Cameron Cloke, Luke Shakleton, etc. Their absence is a sign to me that maybe we are taking this a bit more seriously than normal and not using it to simply blood all our youngsters.

Did you see the pic of Lica in the Sun this morning?
It would be an understatement to say he looked pumped! lol
Hawthorn always make me nervous for some reason - I hope playing in the conditions that we did last weekend haven't taken their toll on some of them.
I'll be having my fingers and toes crossed...

I agree we seem to taking this comp. more seriously than in past years but I don't think this is the reason behind not blooding our youth. I believe the young guys need to earn their right to play games (this includes the Harry Potter Cup) and that means doing the right things out on the training track.

We will demolish Hawthorn. Midfield has always been their weakness and with departue of Chick this has weakened. Contrary to this Woewodin has strengthened our midfield.

It will be nice to continue our winning streak....but I feel we need to give some of the younger players more of a run....
My predictions
Pies to win easily
Didak to star again
Woewodin to be BOG
Crowd controllers to be out of control

As evidenced by the team chosen to spank the "scum" MM obviously means business, even at this time of year. We started later than usual and what better way to condition the side than by fair dinkum match practice.
The stakes are also higher this year , not in terms of money (leave that motivation to others) but because of the KO format. By continuing to win the team doesn't have to travel to places like Geraldton, play in the heat, play on sub standard grounds against inferior opposition, instead we more than likely stay at home, under cover, playing as close to ideal conditions as possible. This is a big plus. Interesting to see the balance MM has in mind this week

Something about playing Hawthorn has always worried me, simply because, the results have always been os varied. Its not like we always beat them, or they always beat us, its always a pretty big winning margain, but you never know what to expect.
Having said that though, im confident we will win. As mentioned b4, the danger man for Collingwood has often been Chick and with him no longer there, thats a big relief for Collingwood. Playing us always bought out the best in Chick.
I beleive their midfield will be nowhere as storng as ours and therefore, our forwards will have ample more opportunity. Fot this simple reason, i beleive we will have enough first use of the ball to come away with quite an easy victory.
Pies by 34 points.

And still no Lica Looks like we may not see him until he's served his suspension then (Round 3?)
