TP, I did mean to comment on the Victorian Judge who basically let that rapist off. I was absolutely disgusted with that as well. He too is blaming the victim.
I often fall asleep on my couch all the time, I certainly don't expect someone to walk past my window, break into my house and then rape me. This is my home and i should be able to do what I like here. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

You obviously don't look twice when you see a woman exposed, you have never watched porn, you have never contimplated cheating on your wife, not even in the slightest amount, you have never judged a woman on her appearence alone. I commend you for that. And I don't hold contempt or disrespect for anyone, not even you.
I wish all the best for you and your family. |
I certainly look twice when I see a good looking guy.......and especially if he's wearing very little. In fact, i drool of the muscles on display of many of our footballers.....what does that make me? _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

great post. the concept of 'God' is a creation of man when we needed explanations for the unexplainable thousands of years ago when science hadn't progressed as it has now, for eg: how was the world created, how were we created. God and other idols were created to answer these questions. science has evolved so far is to answer these questions but still there are people out there who believe God created the universe in 7 days and adam & eve were the first humans.
my point being that religion is so outdated and most of the so called rules of religion are man made and thus made to suit men of the time. however there are good messages to come from religion no matter how bogus the bible, Koran, torah etc are, and thats to love one another and treat those around you with respect and the way you would like to be treated yourself.
Sheik Hilaly and those like him are old school fossils whose teachings are so outdated for western and even most eastern societies. the Vatican is no better, it is one of the most corrupt organisations in the world and still
vigirously reject concepts such as female priests, homosexuality and stem cell research which one day might save their lives. be nice to one another thats all you need to worry about, the rest is complete bullshit. |

I have quite similar views to you Sammy. But what I can't understand is, why does religion seem to have been so important, historically, for a functioning society? Also, concepts such as morality and ethics seem closely related to religious views. I wonder if this is a coincidence. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Perhaps its because people in those days were not as well educated as what they are today and therefore needed a more simpler explanation on what was happening and how to live their lives.
I also agree with Sammy 100% in that religion was man made in order to explain the unexplainable in those days! |
