who would you have in your team if you had a choice
rupert betheras or jarrod molloy?
theyre both simiair players but i think rupert hurts teams more on the scoreboard where i think molloy doesnt.they are both great tacklers but im my opinion and im a bit biased i think rupert would get in cause he can run all day and he can kick goals

going by this years form i would take Rupe in a second, he has the ability to get under teams guard and when he does he makes them pay. Although they are very good tacklers and arnt afraid to go in for it, Rupe is much more accuarate on goal that Molloy is

Agreed that Molloy's conversion rate is poor and that both contribute hardness with their tackling. I would think with no Nicky D in the forward line this year that Molly and Rupe would both be there and doubt as to whether this selection problem would ever arise.

very interesting topic GR10, i think i'd have to keep rup for the obvious reasons u stated, also Molloy has too many injury problems.

I'd probably rate Betheras slightly higher than Molloy ... but I don't really see it as an either/or situation. There's room for both these great players in our side ... fitness permitting, of course.

We're so strong this year, I suspect our BEST 18 will have neither of them in it!!!

Molloy needs a big year as this year he is one of the highest paid players at the club. If he fails to perform we will be looking to offload him or for him to take a pay cut to ease cap pressure. Last year he didn't justify his money IMHO.
Pies light up my world. Davis was the next big thing but now it will be Didak or Cole. Go Pies! |

On the Sunday before Christmas, we were enjoying a barbeque with the extended family at a suburban park, when a familiar looking guy pulled up and got out of his car with 5 or so footies.
This particular park has a series of high walls where you can rebound the ball to yourself. The guy had been there for about 5 minutes when we recognised it was Rupert, so some of my nephews wandered over to take a closer look.
One of them (a non-Collingwood supporter, dammn his father) asked "are you still bleeding about the grand final?"
I was more than heartened to hear him reply "what the <snip> do you think I'm doing here?"
I'll take 'em both.

Kinda strange topic. Betheras and Molloy are very different players. Molloy can play key forward or back positions, is an intimidator, strong overhead, emotional. Betheras is like a pack rat, fast, agile, inspiring, in and under but also gets on his own. Our best 22, obviously picked fully fit, would include both. Don't forget Betheras efforts in key games, don't forget Molloy was injured all year - and had a stellar 2001. He'll be back with a vengeance in 2003.
Hard at it. The Collingwood way. |

It will be a good Collingwood team that could not find room in it for these two players, if they were fully fit.
Even though Rupe had the better year, I think if it came to crunch I would go for Jarrod. However "Molly" would have to be back to his best form, to edge out the "Rupe".
I agree that Jarrod needs a good year in 2003.
Rule 1. Barrack for Collingwood
Rule 2. See rule 1.
Rule 3. There is no rule 3.
