The Williamstown Football Club would like to advise that Brad Lloyd announced yesterday that he had decided to retire from Williamstown after meeting with Senior Coach Brad Gotch and General Manager Brendan Curry.

Brad begun his career with Williamstown in 1994 following in the footsteps of older brother Simon who was a member of Williamstown’s 1990 Premiership side. Brad played 167 senior games, was co-captain of our 2003 Premiership side, won three Senior Best & Fairest Awards in 2000, 2001 and 2004 and captained the VFL in their victory over Western Australia in 2004.

General Manager Brendan Curry lauded Lloyd’s contribution to the Williamstown Football Club by stating “Brad Lloyd has been an enormous contributor to Williamstown both on and off the ground throughout his career. He is an outstanding individual who is held in the highest regard by all sections of our club.”

The Williamstown Football Club wishes Brad all the best as he contemplates the next phase of his football career. Williamstown also thanks the Lloyd family for their outstanding support of both Simon and Brad throughout their careers at Williamstown

Incredibly vague, has he retired from football period? Or has he been 'forced out' after his meeting with Gotch and Curry. Something along the lines of "We can't guarantee you a game next year Lloydy, but if you want to stick around you can"

I hope he has decided to retire because of his work as a player/manager and injuries etc getting the better of him and that he hasn't been treated with disdain by the club.
