As some of you may remember a while ago I told ya's I wanna be a zoologist, and that I had got accepted to do work experience at the zoo. Well.......

Today i got my courses. I got kicked out of VCE Biology because it was too full. Some of my friends have it, and only picked it because they didn't like any others, and they don't even need it for what they wanna be. I need it so bad to get high uni points and so i can do other sciences in year 11 coz biology will be out of the way. But im not allowed to, even though the teachers know what i wanna be and they said "you should of thought about that earlier"

On Wednesday i got told that the Melbourne Zoo decided that I wasn't allowed to do work experience there anymore. Out of nowhere this came up! 1 week from when our work experience should be set up.

I'm so shattered and upset

some of you's might not of been no nicks when this got told so if you werent here, just ignore this.
Love always, Alyssa xoxo

Biology is nice and easy, but also really fun! I'm sure you wont have any shortage of tutors on here - you can borrow my old year 12 text books if you like (I've still got them? hmm, no wonder I have so much junk!).

i know its a drastic move but if it comes to your last resort, change schools. if you truly believe zoology is what you want to do it will be more than worth it. a few mates did it to ensure they completed units for architecture and never regretted it.

How about doing Biology as a VCE subject at TAFE and doing your other subjects at your regular school.

I'm pretty sure you can do that (if it fits in with your schedule) cuz when I was at school a girl did a subject at TAFE as our school didn't offer it.

yeah well Lisey just be thankful that your school lets you do year 11 subjects in year 10!

I've been trying to get my way into physics - possibly mgiht be able to do unit 2 in semester 2 - but the school doesn't like us girls doing extra subjects becasue they think we are not 'mature' enough to cope with the workload of a year 11 subject in year 10... its bull. But of course, they let the MUSIC students do year 11 music! (the music department run our school)

So I might be doing physics next year out of school, if I have the time!

Its only a small hurdle for you to overcome. In the end you will appreciate it more as you had to work harder to achieve your goal

However i think if you kicked up enough of a fuss you would be allowed to do biology. What type of society stops a student like yourself who is keen to learn from studying a subject? If thats how the school system is operating these days then thats very sad.

Dont lose your enthusiasm Alyssa

Never, ever give up Lisey. What you believe in your heart is always right. Trust your instincts and let these set-backs be the driving force to what you want to achieve. I know you have what it takes to be whatever you want.

Only Alyssa knows what she wants, and she'll work out a way to get it.
