HeraldSun 31/10/02;
Ottens hurt in back yard fall
31 October 2002 Herald Sun
By SAM EDMUND
RICHMOND ruckman Brad Ottens is recovering in hospital after falling off a ladder and landing on a wooden stake in his back yard on Tuesday.
The 2001 All-Australian could list himself as "lucky" after a spot of gardening went horribly wrong when he lost his balance and was impaled on a stake.
It's believed Ottens was speared in the groin.
Shelley Ottens called an ambulance for her injured brother, who was rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital for emergency surgery.
Ottens will stay in hospital for at least two days and will miss the start of Richmond's pre-season training on Monday.
"We'll take him nice and easy and it won't hurt him to have a bit more of a rest, anyway, to recover a bit from the season," Tigers football manager Greg Hutchison said.
Club doctor Chris Bradshaw said Ottens would be back to peak fitness in seven to 10 days

OUCH alright!!
As much as I hate Richmond I never like to hear such news.
Hope Ottens recovers and is fit for season 2003.
Did I just say that???

My eyes are watering.
Is Brad married? (seeing his sister called, probably not) I wonder if what the richmond football dept. call peak fitness is what his missus/girlfriend would say.
