kilmore cup

being in a punting mood,and its kilmore cup day
i recall a shocking result way back when.
I had got the word from john harland that nevekier would win the cup,so of i went and had a few beers at the ttrots until the cup.
plonked a fair bit on the nose of nevekier and sat back waiting to collect.
george gath had already won the trotting cup and he had free vance in the pacing cup
free vance was in front and nevekier got up and beat him on the line.
but they gave the race to free vance without a photo,and no photo was posted on the board for all to see like in the other races.
the judge gave it to gath,and he was beat by a head at least
i was right on the line and all and sundry around me declared nevekier the winner.
i have very rarely bet on the trots ever since.
my faith in them being honest went askew that day.
and that was nearly 30 years ago.
who says im losing my memory?
