That is what happened upon phoning AAPT about the internet bill, there was no way to explain to the person on the other line that the bill was paid they wanted the next bill paid there and then.
Of course once we got an Australian on there, the bills were fixed up, no idea the naionality of the person that works with the AAPT one, but she was rather rude.

Can I suggest the problem is not the call centre staff, but the fact Australian companies are prepared to outsource to India in the first place.
As for suggestions to stop telemarkerters in General.
1. When they call, leave the phone on hold...it is amazing how quick some get the message.
2. Find an mp3 of a burp or fart and play it continuously
3. Pretend you are transferring them between umpteen departments (a.l.a. Simpsons) use really high pitched voices for added affect.
4. Use celebrity soundboards (link: like this Napolean Dynamite one) to have a celebrity convo with them,
5. Start chatting them up-use you best pick up lines.

It's not a problem she said from india representing a big w bank, I said it IS A PROBLEM! you haven't refunded money like an aussie said 3 weeks ago.
And they do talk over you but I am louder!(after all I am a Collingwood supporter!)

well I wouldn't quite go that far, lol, but they are very attractive  lol actually to be honest this is something I haven't yet come across, Indian call centres? What? What's the deal with that?
While we're on India, my Economics teacher reckons that they along with China will be the next big superpowers in a few decades, replacing America.

Another suggestion that I heard somewhere was to hand the phone to your toddler who is just learning to say a few words (for those of us who have kids). The child has fun talking on the phone and the person on the other end gets very frustrated. I haven't actually tried this but it's under consideration.
