Richard Carleton passes away

Richard Carleton from 60 Minutes fame,suffered a heart attach at the Beaconsfield mine this morning and has died.

Nine presenter Mike Munro confirmed the death during a televised news update.

"He was given treatment on the spot and taken to hospital," a visibly shaken Munro said.

"He was taken to hospital, as you can see, where doctors have only just pronounced him dead.

Thoughts with the family. Never really liked Carlton, but he was pretty gutsy.

Carlton Dead?
When I first read that I thought all my Xmas's had come at once.

Still, never liked the man, but always sad to hear of death.

Didn't have much opinion really, except the fact he was so pro-palestinian, he wasn't such a bad reporter. I hate his show though. In the end I guess its the way he would have liked to die, asking hard-hitting questions.

RIP to one of the few journalists who moved away from orthodoxy, and provide balance to what is the most corrupt and biased profession possibly left on this planet.

I loved the Guy, he would have seen the funny side.

He died doing what he loved to do. Not many of us will get that chance.

Opinionated, aloof, eccentric, Carlton probably made more enemies than friends in his life but, he was certainly a great journalist and the Australian public will be less informed for his absence.

Sad loss.
