Quote: | State Liberal leader Robert Doyle has announced his resignation as State Opposition Leader.
The resignation follows a meeting with Liberal MPs this morning at which he announced his intention to stand down as both leader and member for Malvern.
"I want to make one thing clear. This was my decision, and my decision alone,'' Mr Doyle told journalists a short time ago. "I believe it's an absolute privilege to serve as a member of parliament in the Parliament of Victoria, in my case as member for Malvern.

IS the rumour about Jeff true? Will he make a comeback? |

Hope not ... he did enough damage last time around. And there's nothing left for him to sell off anyway.
But Doyle really had to go ... I'm sure that guy must have had a charisma bypass operation at some point in his life. Your mob had no chance under him.
Bracks is vulnerable. A half decent Tory leader could knock him off ... easily. _________________ Line and Length ... Line and Length ... Line and Length |

Bracks is very vulnerable IMO. The Libs need a strong leader though. Doyle was piss weak.
Can't see that happening though. |

I don't think Doyle was pissweak, but he was unfortunate enough to be up against one of the more marketable/charismatic Labor leaders in recent times. |

By pissweak, I meant as a strong alternative to the status quo. |

Doyles biggest problem is the likes of Kroger and Co who really run the party and undermined him every day. Bracks would be a shoe in if Jeff came back.
Louise Asher will be leader as she has the support of party heavy weight Kroger. |

Joel, the Liberals will win some seats back mist likely where new toll roads are. Not enough to gain power.
The reason why they will struggle to win a heap of seats back as Bracks is very right wing and his poilicies reflect those of his liberal opposition. Bracks is a very conservative, so much so he could be in the Liberal party and you would not know the difference.
Word I have from my sources are they are keen to give Louise Asher a run. |

Not a big surprise there. Doyle was never going to win an election. I don't know why they'd go for Kennett again though, better to move forward, than just do what Labour did with Beazley (which I still think was a stupid decision). _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it. |

He was never going to run, could not see him sitting in Oppositon for 4 years. Ted Baloon and Loise Asher as his deputy look the go.
Bye Bye Jeff |
