It's too bad we have to use a monopoly like Microsoft. What's your favorite part of France? |

Yeah to be honest I don't know what the problem is. Everyone has always known that muslims wear head scarves and stuff, I don't see how it's offensive all of a sudden now. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Quote: | The Lords said Ms Begum's family knew what the school's uniform policy was when they sent her there and should have enrolled her at a different school if they objected to it.

I can't see what the furore is in France. They have banned ALL conspicuous religious symbols. The Muslims can't play the race card with that one.
The system is no different here. Whether it's extreme haircuts or refusal to wear the school uniform a school has every right to enforce it's rules. Those rules are made available to all new students when their application is made for enrolment. _________________ Do not adjust your mind. The fault is in reality. |

exactly Canby, the parents should have been aware of school uniform policy when they signed their daughter on there. If they didn't read the fine print, it's their problem, not the schools. When they agreed to enrol their daughter there, they aquiesced to the schools policies regarding this. Ignorance is no defence in this case. If they are that concerned about religious standards, send the child to a religious school, plenty of other moslems and Catholics do. |

just goes to show how pathetic the French government is. I was shaking my head when I heard that. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
