Post subject: 1953 & 1958 Reunion Dinner | |
|
Just to let you guys know, I had the privellege of attending this dinner last night at the Lilydale International.
Most players attended from both teams. Tony Charlton hosted the night with great pride and honour. The players were presented with a plaque and trophy each (with the premiership medallion attached to the trophy). This is because they actually never received a medallion back then. (Did you know that 1958 was the first year they played for the cup, not a flag?)
Lou Richards was in great form as was Murray Weideman.
There was a re-enactment of Frank Tuck/Doug Collins(?) stoush of 1953. Quite amusing.
It was a wonderful, honouring, down to earth night. Even Clokey was there with his dad. My highlight was probably seeing my dad relieve his childhood, you couldn't get the smile off his face.
If you would like, I can try and post some photos when I receive them.
Its great to get into the spirit of CFC just before the finals.

Thanks for that Melsa 5.
I would have gone - but had flu - as I am actually a member of the Eastern Magpie supporters group. (Based at Lilydale International).
They put on a few functions for Magpie supporters including bus trips to the footy.
They also have a Legends Bar to honour past players.
