I heard on 3AW this morning that Travis Johnson has asked Melbourne if he can be traded to Collingwood

Only Collingwood people know what we feel - the rest will never understand.

He's a great player but they'd want soo much for him and we don't need another midfielder, sorry Trav. Maybe if he was comming for nothing...

Cant imagine that being true at this stage of the season, why would he ask for that when Melbourne are still to play finals. Sounds like a good way to get dropped if u ask me. But id have him at the club for sure...can never have too many midfielders and hes got class.

Wasn't he a number one pick in a late 90's draft? He's underperformed so far. Why bother?

Hard at it. The Collingwood way.

this year has been his best by far - very impressive and most importnatly, consistent throughout 2002. admittedly he's taken time to get it together(was it 98 he was drafted?) but depending on what the dees would want for him, he could be worthwhile. the problem being we already have bucks, obree, licka, tarks, daks, mcg, rupe, burnsy, steiner, nicky d etc etc and trav can only really play midfield/half forward.

Johnstone was the #1 pick in 97.

Thanks very much we'll have him!

If we do get him ( which I don't think we will ) who will we trade him for ?

The Pies for premiers 2002,2003,2004 and for the next 50 years Blues for wooden spoon 2002,2003,2004,2005 and the next 50 years. Adelaide gets Carey and he makes them finnish 15th

You're having us on, surely, Murray.

But I can not resist.

He's the real thing, is young Travis. I said so when we last played against the Dee's. He's young enough to be worth a first round draft pick. Though I am sure Melbourne would want a player or two thrown in, as well.

We must have really impressed him with our support during our last game against Melbourne. I remember a few of the boys from the outer were singling him out for some special attention. Hear's me thinking we would be the last club he would want to join. I think he even (surreptitiously) gave us the finger too.

I suppose he's looking for a gig on the Footy Show, as a vehicle to getting work in the media, once he retired. By all accounts, he does not intend to do a days real work in his life.

Rule 1. Barrack for Collingwood
Rule 2. See rule 1.
Rule 3. There is no rule 3.

Greg J, right, if it's true. I think the guy is only 21 or 22, so hasn't reached his peak yet. A worthwhile pickup if we could.

BTW how do you surreptitiously (well spelt Greg) give the bird.

I heard that too but I thought it was said very tongue in cheek - just trying to wind up John Burns who's a demons fan I think

hypothetical or not, that 3 way trade is not in our best interests. no disrespect to trav as i personally think he's a damn good player but the swans and dees would be laughing if that went ahead. nicky d stays.

We're not trading Nicky, he's worth more than goodes and travis put together! Not that they're bad players, but this boy has so much potential, he's a superstar waiting for a injury free preseason and then BAM, it's all over for the opposition.

With the help of a spell checker, Anthony C. First attempt was "surrepitously ".

He did give some sort of response, after he kicked a goal (late in the game), as he was turning around, to head back to the centre. Might have just been a fist pump.

Greg J. No Sh*t I heard Ross Stephenson say it to John Burnsat about 7.10 am. Of course Burns nearly fell of his chair as he is a crazy Melbourne supporter. But Ross does say a lot of things which appear to be in jest, but a lot of the time he is right on the money. As far as I am concerned I think we need a key position back man. Goodes would be perfect, but I would take Travis as a compromise.

Only Collingwood people know what we feel - the rest will never understand.
