Post subject: Monaros still rolling out | |
|
GMH recently announced that production of the Monaro for Australian roads will cease, however, I find this rather interesting.
Quote: | Fans of the Holden Monaro have been given a last chance to buy one. As predicted by CARSguide in August, Holden Special Vehicles has announced it will continue to sell its Monaro-based Coupe model well into next year.
The Clayton-based company has chosen an interesting name for the batch of 100 cars that will likely be the last - LE. |

Old news.
Was published in a comprehensive Holden article in "Wheels" mag 2 months ago.
The 3rd shift at Elisabeth, of which the Monaro was a prime factor in creating, will be shut down at the end of this year. Unfortunately, only now has the Monaro started to sell in the required numbers in the U.S. to justify it's survival.
Holdens are moving away from sourcing their smaller cars from Europe. The new Astra, Barina and Vectra all appear to be now coming out of South Korea.
GMH have bought the old Daewoo factory. |

I must amend my previous post.
GM bought Daewoo, not GMH. |
