Next Sunday, the Williamstown reserves will front up for their fifth consecutive GF appearance, this time against North Ballarat.

Starting at 11pm, the reserves GF will be the curtain raiser to the senior GF, to be contested between Werribee and Sandringham.

Williamstown have been the benchmark in the reserves comp this year, finishing on top of the ladder, and three games clear of second placed Nth Ballarat. The Seagulls were very lucky in the last meeting of these two sides (2nd semi) as Williamstown had to overcome a 22 point 3/4 time deficit to claim the victory in extra time.

All the best guys, and hope to see the 2005 premiership flag flying high over Point Gellibrand.

Unless someone is at the game with a laptop and wireless internet connection, we'll hear nothing until the final scores are shown on ABC-TV.

Williamstown won by about 3 goals.

Not 100% on the scores, but I think it was:

Williamstown: 16-7-103
North Ballarat: 12-13-85

Pretty comfortable win by Willy, the score somewhat flattered Nth Ballarat though the did come out and play better in the second half.

The first quarter was what won it for us, keeping them to just 4 behinds, plus our accurate kicking we had 12-3 at one stage.

Some good performances, McArdle given best on ground, played in the ruck all day against a couple of oppenents. Young Scott Meyers was super impressive, played a few senior games this year when they had no talls and was excellent, thankfully no one has told him he is stick thin because then he might think twice about going into contests like he does, good in the air and at ground level, superb courage.

Jackson Barling was a standout and who I thought was possibly best on ground. Just hit everything hard took some courageous marks when playing in the backline with that forced him off the ground for a few minutes before coming back on to go forward and set up a couple of goals.

Galea started off superbly and kicked 4 in the 1st (though don't qoute me on that, no record to write them down or scoreboard with goalscrores on it) after that was double teamed but still had quite a few goal assists.

Being the last game of footy I'll watch all year it is good way to end what otherwise has been a dissappointing season.

Williamstown Reserves win flag

The Williamstown reserves have defeated North Ballarat in the VFL reserves Grand Final. The victory was the fourth in Grand Finals for the reserves in five years.

The reserves began in brilliant fashion with Dean Galea kicking all four of the Seagull's first quarter goals while keeping North Ballarat to just 4 behinds.

The Seagull's continued to dominate at the beginning of the second quarter kicking the first three goals - two to Galea to bring his tally to 6 of Williamstown's 7 goals to that point. A 39 point margin had developed with the Williamstown defence keeping the Roosters to just 5 behind to that point. North Ballarat continued to attack and kicked the next 3 goals to breath life into the game, by the Seagull's answered with 3 goals of their own to go into the half time break leading by 38 points.

During the second half the Roosters tried to find a way back into the game but Williamstown managed to hold their opponents at arms length to eventually run out winners by 22 points.

Nick McArdle was the star for the Seagulls winning the medal for best on gound. Galea was a major contributor with 6 goals in the first half while Picken, Barling, Meyer, Rose and Shelton featured among the best.

Williamstown: 4.2.26 ~ 10.2.62 ~ 12.4.76 ~ 16.7.103
North Ballarat: 0.4.4 ~ 3.6.24 ~ 6.8.44 ~ 12.9.81

Goals: Galea 6, Proctor 2, Cook 2, Picken 2, Rose, Clifton, Smoker, Pearce.
Best: McArdle, Picken, Barling, Meyer, Rose, Shelton.
