All you've proven there is that apprentices are exploited.

It is a fact that people fail to take into account that prices are going up, but so are wages.... I've heard that petrol was more expensive relatively back in the 80s.....

Basic problem with your calculations.
You really need to compare the price of fuel with 2005 apprentice wages, not fully qualified Plumber.
Or of course, supply the wage for a fully qualified Plumber in 1984.

Either way will do, but the way it is is not a fair comparison.

they would be gross Weekly wages. they get a pay increase in Feb 2006 though Smile Although, depending on the type of plumbing involved, there are other allowances, but those are the base rates from what I can understand of the Agreement. (wonders if her Nephew who is a 1st year apprentice with her brother is paid those wages....lol)

A.1 WAGES AND ALLOWANCES
Registration allowance, plumbing trade allowance, industry allowance and tool allowance are included in the hourly rates below.

So a 1st year apprentice plumber on $361.08 a week is paying $1.25+ for petrol.

Not sure how to work out the % but i'm sure someone can do it for me so that we can compare

Hard to work out Pp.

Assasin claims that on $49 nett in '84, fuel was 49c a litre.

And now says he netts $1500. Fuel $1:30.

But, according to the plumbers wages page, total gross wage for a plumber is $993.24.
I'm assuming thats a 38 hour week. So Assasin is a very hard worker doing maybe 80 hours a week to nett 1500 bux.

If we say that tax is 20% of gross wage, that makes the 2005 apprentice nett as $288.86.

Buy shares in a petrol company and get some of your cash back. If you spend $2000 on some Caltex shares, you will get a free fill every year on the dividends.

Don’t get mad, get a piece of the action.

it seems like you work far too hard for little return! now, where did i put that plunger.
