Whilst in perth i did some shopping and found myself in JB hi fi
and noticed a collingwood CD as you would, so immeadetly it was sold and one of the songs is a real ripper so this is how it goes.. it's called Still the magpies play on.

ernie strickland..the coventry's charlie pannam..and dick lee if you venture one night to victoria park you can hear the ghost's of the great woodsman past and still the magpies are playing still the magpies play on.
Jock mchale..the collier crew..des fothergill and ron todd too of you narrow your eyes you can still see them fly they might retire but they'll never die..still the magpies are playing still the magpies play on.
Peter mckenna...wayne richardson thorald merrett and len thompson
if you venture one night to victoria park you can hear the ghost's of the great woodsman past..still the magpies are playing
still the magpies play on
yes still those magpies play on.
well that was it i hope you all think its pretty good the music and narration is excellent and spine tingling. To me it was a little reminder on how proud we all should be to be COLLINGWOOD not that we need any reminder.

I actually did this one night it was about 10pm and i was back at the club taking back cheer squad stuff and i snuck into the outer and just sat there it was dark and had trouble seeing the other side of the ground and as i sat there i imagined jock ripping into his players at 3 quarter time in a hard tussle against the demons.
I saw john greening stream down the members wing in his hey day before that fateful day that nearly killed him.
I could hear darren millane at a training session with his huge bull voice roaring encouraging his team mates.

I even saw ron todd taking a specky at the railway end and tommy hafey training the boys to exhaustion 2 days before a granny, I remember the first wooden spoon comming to pieland i remember it well because as a youngster i cried myself to sleep that night.

I again was a part of the scenes that occured after the 90 pemiership, oh how the mind runs rampant. I looked to the yarra falls end and saw myself as a seven year old at his first game in a second hand collingwood jumper given to me by my dear old mum i wasnt to know then how big collingwood would become in my life, i remember 2 guys fighting a bloody battle with broken beer bottles they were indeed rough times and to be honest whilst sitting there reflecting on collingwood and what the club means to me i did leave with a tear in my eye. To sit in the outer late on a dark cold night at vicky park was to me a moving experience.

Cheers.

Joffa played that CD to me. "Still The Magpies Play On" actually uses the tune of "Silent Night".

There was another track on there that I liked too ... the title was something to do with Carringbush. It was a kind of techno-punk thing, if that makes any sense ... (it does, believe me )

Interesting that Joffa was able to pick up such an obscure Collingwood recording in little old Perth.

I actually saw this CD in Sanity at Crown on Saturday night. If I had enough money I would have bought it. Oh well, at least I know it's there...

Goodbye Dolly I must leave you, though it breaks my heart to go,
Something tells me I am needed at the front to fight the foe,
See - the soldier boys are marching and I can no longer stay,
Hark - I hear the bugle calling, goodbye Dolly Gray.

GOOD OLD COLLINGWOOD FOREVER, WE KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE GAME,
SIDE BY SIDE WE STICK TOGETHER, TO UPHOLD THE MAGPIES NAME.
SEE THE BARRACKERS SHOUTING, AS ALL BARRACKERS SHOULD,
OH, THE PREMIERSHIP'S A CAKEWALK FOR THE GOOD OLD COLLINGWOOD
