Collingwood skipper Nathan Buckley is set to become a Magpie for life.
The champion midfielder, who many regard as one of the top five players in the competition, is likely to sign a contract extension that will see him play until the end of 2004, according to a report on Channel Ten news.
Buckley’s manager, Geof Motley, has spoken to Collingwood chief executive Greg Swann and football manager Neil Balme about a further extension in his contract.
“Buck’s ambition is to complete his career with the Collingwood Football Club,” Motley said.
Buckley, 29, has established himself as one of Collingwood’s greatest ever players, having won five Copeland Trophies (best-and-fairest awards) since making his debut with the Pies in 1994 – a year after winning the Rising Star award with Brisbane in his inaugural AFL season.
