Port Adelaide's Kane Cornes and Collingwood captain Nathan Buckley have avoided a tribunal visit following incidents in last Friday night's spiteful clash at Football Park.
A crude and high tackle by Buckley on Port defender Matthew Bishop was deemed within the rules of the game during the video review of the weekend's matches.
Cornes' controversial raised-finger gesture towards Collingwood forward Brodie Holland was also cleared.
Cornes' actions immediately followed the siren that signalled Port's exciting five-point win over Collingwood. A major scuffle involving almost every player on the field then erupted.
The Power player escaped a penalty because his actions were directed at another player and not the crowd or an umpire. Earlier this year, Bulldog forward Nathan Brown was fined $5000 by the AFL for a similar gesture directed at the crowd.
Yesterday, Port captain Matthew Primus defended Cornes, suggesting verbal taunts from the Magpies caused the incident. "I think he was copping a bit of mouthing off from a few players out there and obviously it was a close win in the end and he was looking to get back at them."
