Post subject: Pre Game Drinks at the Yarra Hotel. | |
|
A few of us are getting back to the suburban roots of the game and catching up at the Yarra hotel, for a few drinks before the Lions game, on Saturday.
We will then catch the train, en masse, from there (Vic Park station) to Spencer street station.
These are the directions I will be using to get there,
1. Get off the train at Victoria Park Station.
2. Sigh audibly on catching first glimpse of Vic Park.
3. Head towards Johnston Street (down the ramps, towards the busy street, should be able to see a service station, which has been remodelled since we last played there)
4. Cross Johnston street, so that you are on the city side of the road (not the Vic Park side).
5. Head up Johnston street, that is left, or in other words away from Punt Road.
6. Pub is only about 50m up, in the middle of the block.
OR ALTERNATIVELY if you are running late, just follow the sounds of our song drifting around Collingwood, as we belt at verse after verse.
Rule 1. Barrack for Collingwood
Rule 2. See rule 1.
Rule 3. There is no rule 3.

I'll be there about 4!
I wonder if the guy who used to run the Hopetoun Hotel in Bendigo, is still running the Yarra. Con was his name.
As an aside, I walked past the Hopetoun a couple times on the weekend, and it certainly has NOT gone onto bigger and better things since I used to live around the corner, from it in my student days.
Rule 1. Barrack for Collingwood
Rule 2. See rule 1.
Rule 3. There is no rule 3.

Ah yes it will be good to get back to a traditional drink before the game with all the boys. I look forward to seeing everyone there, however i would ensure that people pre buy their tickets to avoid queueing when we arrive at the ground. We can even sing our song on the train prior to getting to Colonial. I remember the good old days when Collingwood won and train was packed leaving Vic Park and everyone would start singing the theme song in full cry. It was pure magic
Yes im excited about this week
I am the game, you don't wanna play me
I am control, no way you can change me
I am have heavy debts, no way you can pay me
I am the pain, and I know you can't take me
Look over your shoulder, ready to run
Like a good little bitch, from a smoking gun
I am the game, and I make the rules
So move on out, and you can die like a fool
Play the game, you're gonna be the same
You're gonna change your name, you're gonna die in flames
Hahahahaha
Time to play the game! |
