There is a big write up in todays Sydney paper that WE WONT be getting the AFL live on Ch9 thru the season, but it will be shown after NIGHTLINE and only edited quarters.Apparently Ch9 are still smarting over loosing the finals to Ch10.
It fugures, that Packer dosent like AFL,neither do his staff and we have to suffer.
I believe that Ch9 in Melbourne will be showing all games live, but is in Sydney & Brisi have to wat until after the late news.
We also get the AFL footy show on Thurday (sorry Friday morning) nights at 1:15am in the morning.
God what is Ch9 trying to do,stuff up AFL altogether.
I can tell you I am not interested in watching bloody NRL.
catch you all later

Hey Peter,
The footy show in Sydney usually starts around 12.30am. Last night it started earlier around 11.30pm which was a blessing b/c that way it finished around 1am rather than 2am which happens with the late start. (If the footy show would always start at 11.30pm that would be a real score imho.)
As for the friday night games on free to air, yes we get them late after the News which still beats channel $even who usually started showing the footy from 12.30-1am. (It is also part of the reason why the swanneees and the bears (hehehe) don't play any friday night games so as not to compete with the thugby.)
So although it ain't perfect for those of us living north of the barassi line it is better than what we have been given before. You will be off on your trip soon - look to head south of the barassi line for the footy season and you too will be able to watch footy at a reasonable hour.

If I was a billionaire with not too many years left, and my business was show business entertaining the people who helped to make me those billions, I'd like to be remembered with fondness and affection. I truly cannot figure the mentality of those who think that making a dollar is the most important thing in life. Let them have their temporal pleasures, but history will not treat them kindly. When you are dust and no one thinks of you, you will cease to exist.

Hey Mr Pieman,
I find that I tend not to watch the footy show if I have recorded it. So either I stay up late and watch it and don't bother recording it as I have never watched the recording. For me it really comes down to a time thing. More often than not I am busy friday night and I work on saturdays.
