Post subject: Clarification please - the draft! | |
|
If Collingwood was to trade pick 7, does that also mean they effectively trade:
1. Pick 7 in the October Draft;
2. Pick 7 in the PSF in November; and
4. Pick 7 in the Rookie Draft?
If that is the case, giving up Pick 7
A. Would have to be something pretty special
B. Mean that that player is worth in effect 3 playes at Pick 7
Any clarification would be appreciated. |

Short answer is no. You simply trade pick 7 in the upcoming November Draft.
Pre-Season Draft we have Pick 4 as there are no concession picks and the same applies in the Rookie Draft. |

Question for you knowledgeable about the whole trading system in the AFL - Can Collingwood go to Melbourne and say we will give you Ben Kinnears football boots and 1 million dollars for Cameron Bruce?
Or can we only deal in players?
Because by the sounds of the demons they could do with a few bucks. and its not like Ed's bulging wallet couldnt afford it? |

Thats an interesting question.
If we are cashed up enough, could we say...we will trade you so and so player for Bruce, but we will give you a million bucks to put into your 'Maintain the Momentum' Fund (or whatever they are calling it).
Is there anything wrong with giving a 'donation' to other clubs.
Btw, I'm not saying we should do it - But if it was the best young player you had ever seen, or one of the best players full stop...would you do it? (provided we were able to get away with it) |

Unlike the NBA trading system, the only cash that one club can offer to another as an enticement is that the shall pick up 50% or a nominated figure of a players contract should they still be under terms with the club of origin.
BTW.....Bruce, Johnson, Ottens, Thompson.....none of them are worth a million anyway. |

Thanks for answering that. I wasn't saying any of them are worth that. |

Haha, i have this arguement with my pommy brother in law who says 'a player is worth as much as a club is willing to pay for them'. Because i always argue that soccer players in the premier league are over paid.
However i would happily fork out a million bucks for any of them players if the club had the money and we were going to be closer to september glory.
Im guessing that the money that we pay off there contract is under our salary cap? |
