But sam, he is good trade bait, and may buy us Stewie Dew.

Get a grip people - O'Bree is not good bait. All we could get for him is another average player or a third round pick.

O'Bree would not want to go to another club, he is on easy street. Does not have to perform and still pulls his salary. Renegotiate and make it performance based only then he may just pull his correct wage via centrelink.

And roar is spot on.

I agree with roar and all, but on $250K if thats correct, no way known you'll only get a draft pick for him, you may as well keep him, because you'd still have to carry half if not more of his salary and at that wage estimate, its merely not worth trading him for a draft pick.

Say O'Bree is on 250K, trade him to a club for a third round pick, pay 70K of his salary (for '05 only) and draft a kid in his spot (minimum pay 50K).

Get a kid with potential, lose some dead-wood and drop 120K in our TPP.

The only time I wouldn't try to trade O'Bree is if McGough and Shaw are both traded. We don't want to lose too much midfield depth that has experience (no matter how inept it is) in one hit.

If neither or only one of McGough and Shaw are traded then by all means lets free up some salary space and get a kid who may have a future.

O'Bree IS trade bait. He got 30 odd possessions against Freo, but he has stagnated at Collingwood. Another club might give him another shot.

Having said that, I would think that it is more likely he will be delisted.

You would HAVE to get something for O'Bree. I'd rather a third rounder which is often used as a 'link' in trades. Dogs third round? Or even the Crows? Both would want him - as would Freo.
