Whenever a player is dropped off the list, there is always a possibility he will be a good player elsewhere. You cannot let that be a consideration or you will never change your list enough to improve. Once you build a good squad you have to turn over players who have shown some promise. It is precisely what we didn't do in the mid 90's and it left our list very shallow when the players who were left on the list too long didn't make it as quality senior players.

Tuckey has shown some glimpses but, as Joffa said, 4 years is long enough. The selectors have made a judgement based on 4 years of monitoring his improvement and it frankly has not been nearly good enough. Add to that the tall forward depth and it seems unlikely he would get a game this year. We have a spot at FB or CHB but he doesn't look better than about 4th in line after Presti, Richo, Wakelin and Kinear. That isn't even counting on Cloke improving.

All in all he was a player who was never likely to play a role in our future. I do think he should have been traded but I don 't know if there was any interest. If not, that says something in itself.

???? still whether Steve Rode is still on the rookies list. Says as a rookie, was only a one year contract so will have to be resigned as a rookie anyway. He is not sure if he is to be kept on or not.

Can anyone confirm that andrew hill has been promoted to the senior list? and if so this meens we have only 4 draft picks.
This might sound strange but that would meen we have 3 in the november draft and probaly 1 in the pre-season draft. I hate to be a pain but if that is the case prepar for some more delistings

Neil Balme said on sportstoday on 3AW just after trade period that malthouse and the match commitee were happy with Tuckeys' performance this year, it was just there were limited oppertunities for him. With a few injuries to our forwards(which we didn't have this year)Tuckey could get his oppertunity and play some good footy like he has fo Willy this year.

We still might be planning on re-drafting Tuckey. In the past few years a number of clubs have delisted players to reduce their list to the required pre-draft number of 35, then re-drafted them with a late pick in the november draft.
