Sadly the great AB has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. 😢
Wish him all the best wishes. One of my all time heroes.
Border says it will be a miracle if he lives to 80.
The first player in history to score 11,000 Test runs, Border has revealed he was diagnosed with the disease in 2016 but had been hiding it from the public eye for seven years.

legend of the game and great bloke by all accounts. Wish him all the best, living to 80 is over rated anyway.

All the best to AB. Sad

I think Greg Chappell wrote in one of his books that no man has done as much to save Australian cricket as AB.

In the line of truly great Australian Test batsmen, AB is the 2nd-last. (Ricky Ponting is the last. But of course there could be another great in the future! Who knows?)

Also a great catcher and brilliant at throwing down the stumps. Modern fielders can be very athletic, good at the boundary catch, etc. But very few of them can hit the stumps. Of the current Oz internationals, maybe only G. Maxwell might. (Before that, there's Ricky Ponting again.)

e.g. Atherton is very lucky to have his first Test century in Oz. On 99, went for the quick single, Border swooped, Boon hit the deck to get out of the way, and Border nailed the stumps. Clearly out, but no TV review in those days.
