The record for the longest winning streak in VFL/AFL history belongs to the 1952-53 Geelong team coached by Reg Hickey, which racked up an incredible 23 successive victories. In round 8 of 2011 the Pies lost to Geelong after the umpires called play back after Scott Pendlebury played on and kicked what would have been the winning goal. Without that decision, The Pies would have a 22 game winning streak and a 25 game unbeaten streak.

If Geelong and the Pies keep winning they could be playing for 16 straight in the Granny. Can the winner then win the first 8 of next season for a new record? |

And that 1952 -53 winning streak of Geelong included all home and away games in 1952
The second semi final and the grand final of 1952
After starting season 1953 with wins Collingwood went down to play them in Geelong and subsequently beat them —we used to catch the train there and back
Coming home after the game train packed with Collingwood supporters the “Good old Collingwood Forever “ sung al way back to Spenser Street _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

That said - and as May now knows - McCreery was the fastest player on the ground, reaching a maximum speed of 33.8 km/hr - that would be seriously scary to face. |
If you could rig up a full beer keg (85kgs) and release it on a pendulum from half the height of a telephone pole (4.5 metres), then the force it would strike someone at ground level would be similar to being hit by Beau McCreery at top speed.
That would hurt a lot.
Other things that weigh 85kgs: a mountain lion. A baby elephant. A washing machine. |
