A mate of mine who happens to be a geelong member says that if a club member joins foxtel footy channel before dec 30 foxtel will donate $50 to the club.
That means if 1000 members get foxtel footy the club will get $50000.
Is this geelongs private deal or are all clubs in on it.?
And if so why not advertise it around the board to raise funds for The Club?

I just signed up in anticipation of Foxtel getting the footy next year. I would have ticked a box to redirect some money to the Pies if I got the chance.

Ed,
Eddie McGuire has asked me to confirm details of the Foxtel offer to Collingwood. We are very pleased with the arrangements that we have negotiated with Foxtel for our members.
Collingwood members who connect with Foxtel will receive a $50 discount.
For every member that connects with Foxtel, Foxtel will pay the club $20.
All AFL clubs that wish to participate get exactly the same deal.
The offer will last until 31 March 2002.
We are also pleased that there will be a Collingwood television show screened on Foxtel next season - probably on monday afternoons and then replayed at later times. Full details are yet to be finalised.
Hope this helps with your query.

I've often thought about getting Foxtel, but could never really be bothered. But on Monday when the Foxtel man knocked on my door, I saw the AFL guide in his hand and said "Come on in". I'm not 100% trusting of the AFL and where they'll be taking the free to air coverage, so I hooked it up this morning.
I wasn't told anything about donations to clubs? And considering most of my questions were about the Football station, I'm sure he would have mentioned it.
(I was told though that if I pay 12 months in advance before the 31st January it ends up costing about $6 a month. That would be well worth it for everyone to keep in mind.)
Colours are an illusion. There is only black and white. |

I am a foxtel subscriber and I have had five phone calls from foxtel all wanting me to sign on for the AFL channel. Everyone that rang new I was a collingwood member but none of them told me of the money that would go to the club. I'll ring them now and ask why not.

Thats all very well for you guys in the cities. BUT i hope you all realise that Foxtel is not available to us poor country bumpkins...
And if 9/10 are only going to show 2/3 games of a weekend then they will get the thumbs down from me. Least ch7 showed at least 5 games with c7 2 or 3...
I have not heard anything about Austar getting the footy as yet, maybe someone out there knows?
