THE Sydney Kings today signed Boomers squad member Ben Knight.
Coach Brian Goorjian said he was thrilled to have signed the key forward and admitted he was a perfect fit with the departure of MVP Mattie Nielsen.
"He was our number one choice and we got him," Goorjian said.
"I think Ben fits where we want to go as a team next season – his tough defence, his touch around the basket especially with the 15 foot jump shot, and his mobility.
"One of the great things about last year was that even though we lost a number of players we got all the new players that we had targeted and I think that's the case again this year."
Knight became a free agent last week after leaving the Wollongong Hawks.
The Sydney born 27-year-old started his career with the Sydney Kings back in 1997 before being recruited by Goorjian to the South East Melbourne Magic.
But Knight was forced to look for a new club when the Giants and Magic merged to form the Victoria Titans.
Knight spent the next five seasons in North Queensland with Townsville and Cairns before returning to NSW last season for a stand out year with the Wollongong Hawks averaging 17 points per game. _________________ Ðavâgé
