STUART APPLEBY has moved up to eighth place on the world golf rankings - and second on the US Tour money list - despite letting the Bay Hill Invitational slip from his grasp yesterday.

The Australian, who led by four shots with 11 holes to play only to lose by six shots to American Chad Campbell, edged up one place to his career-best ranking.

Tiger Woods - whose share of 46th at the Bay Hill event was his worst performance for five years - remains No.1.

He's just 20 weeks short of Greg Norman's record for time spent in the top spot.

Appleby's earnings in America this year of just over $2 million leaves him second on the money list behind Fijian Viay Singh.
