JLC,

Don't think so.

As stated elsewhere Elliott's quality is without question. He is however of the same vintage as many others in the team. Whilst this may and indeed should not disqualify him, selectors may look at younger options.

Hussey may have talent but frankly he may look to next season before any shot at any higher honours (ie A team).

Moss. Sorry but Jon Moss's Australian representation will begin and end with the Maccabi (Jewish) Games. End of story.

If Hussey is performing well then why shouldnt he get a chance ?? There shouldnt be a certain time period before you are good enough to play for your country.

Also i don't understand your comments re Jon Moss ?? What has he done wrong ??

Either of those players are clearly good enough to at least be given a shot playing for Australia A.

OK JLC, I will elaborate.

Hussey, from what little I've seen, certainly looks a talented player and has put forward good performances. However they are not of the scope to somehow place him in front of other more experienced and better performed candidates for national selection. Continuation of good form may justify him a place in the next A team, ie next season.

Moss. I consider him to be a good solid sate player, nothing more. The Maccabi comment is not evidence of any anti-Semitism on my part. Moss did represent Australia in the most recent Maccabi (intl Jewish) Games in 2002. I simply state that will be the extent of his intl representation.

Do consider Cameron White DOES have a lot to offer. He deserved his A team spot and continued development will see him overtake McGill in the pecking order. Comparisons with Warne are unfair to him as he is a totally different style of bowler.

Please I am not a bigoted anti-Vic, I frankly have a considerable dislike for much of NSW cricket. My point of contention has been with some of yr argument which has seemed somewhat parochial.

These are the first class stats for both Hussey and Moss. I know they are a bit distorted because they are both coming off massive hundreds but they are exceptional figures.

Hussey: 9matches, 12 innings, 603 runs, HS 160*, Ave 54.81, 3 100's, 2 50's

Moss(batting): 22matches, 34Innings, 138 6runs, HS 172*, Ave 43.31, 3 100's, 9 50's

(bowling): 34 wickets @ 29.85, Best bowl 4/50.

Hussey is 26 and Moss 28, about the right to be taking the next step.

Yes Sultan, but can they realistically be ranked above the other contenders namely Katich, Love, Clarke, the returning Lehmann, Hussey, Hodge etc???

With the best will in the world, I cannot do so.

When's some youthful exuburance in the form of Watson or Clarke going to get a go? Moss with bowling and batting figures like that seems decent. Old McDonald did well in the second innings. Was that performance merely a flash in the pan for him? Also, Donny seems I was right in my pessimism regarding WA's bowling stocks. Definitely not grade A prime beef! Sad

Watson has already got more of a go than he deserves.

It would be interesting to hear the selectors selection policy. On the one hand Hodge is apparently too old for one dayers at 28 but Lehmann apparently isnt ??

strange

All I said was they should have been given a chance for Aust A & from memory Katich and Lehman didn't play for Aust A.

Career first Class records for Hussey, Hodge, Clarke, and Rogers who all played in Aust A.

Mike Hussey(Age28):143matches, 253Innings, 12357runs,Ave52.58 , 32 100's, 54 50's

Chris Rogers(Age26):29matches,51 Innings,1888runs, Ave39.33, HS 194, 6 100's, 9 50's

Hodge(Age29 on dec29):124matches,223Innings ,8771runs HS 302* Ave43.63, 32 100's, 69 50's

Clarke(Age22):34matches, 64Innings,2316runs, Ave 39.25, HS 134, 8 100's, 9 50's

I'm not going to get on Justin Langers case after the fine service he and Hayden have done opening the batting for the Aussies in the last 5 years, BUT should all his form desert him and he falls from grace.....
Then M.Elliott BETTER get another crack at the job. It is fair to assume he has his eye in again. Everybody else gets a "2nd coming", then why should he miss out? 5 years in the wilderness is long enough.

Time to bring back the "Welcoming Matts".
