Lyon starts. Healy wants a silly point. He gets his wish.
They appeal. Not out. Marnus says no to the review. They were acting like it was out.
Next ball, it looks like it did go from pad to bat. It flew off and not to hand.
Ponting thinks Head is too close. He wants him to take a step left and a step back. |

Hazlewood from the other end.

The first ball of Lyon's next over keeps low.
Ponting praises his bowling after tea: "He's been right on the money. ... It's been the best he's looked in the game. ... He's been very consistent."
There are four men plus keeper around the batsman. |

Hazlewood bowls Buttler shouldering arms!
England 7/172 (74.2).
Taylor: "A good change of tactics. All of a sudden they brought they field up. ... Jos Buttler was expecting the short ball."
Ponting says Buttler was previously defending those balls: "As soon as they changed the field ... an error in judgement."
Hazlewood's front foot was just okay.
....
The ball almost rolls back on to Archer's stumps. There was a big appeal for LBW. It was too high. |

Ponting thinks Archer will "look to clear the pickets".
Ponting: "The technique of these tailenders is not good enough for them to stand and defend, and they know that."
Marsh races out with another helmet. There are five men plus keeper around Archer here.
Lloyd: "The sweep's on here. Anywhere out in the deep." |

Lyon gets Archer LBW! The ball shot through at ankle height!
England 8/173 (75.5).
They can smell the Ashes now.
This ball is doing heaps, but there's also a new ball available soon.
Ball tracking shows that it was actually umpire's call for impact in line with the stumps, but otherwise plumb. |

Hazlewood again. Big appeal for LBW! Not out. They review.
No edge. Waiting for ball tracker...
Missing. Review lost.
Ponting: "Beautiful delivery. Ducked in and ducked in late."
And then an outside edge on the bounce to Smith at slip.
Lloyd: "Terrific bowling, this."
Ponting: "This is high-class reverse swing bowling."
Leach marks out leg-stump guard.
Ponting: "Will he target base of leg stump?"
Hazlewood beats Leach outside off.
He's going around the wicket for the last ball. |

Starc to Leach.
He beats Leach. And again.
Two slips, gully, two leg gullies, bat pad, ...
Last ball: Yorker. Leach digs it out and takes the single to keep the strike. |

Lyon has switched ends.
Warne says it's getting a little bit darker. Athers says it doesn't look too bad overhead.

Warne says Paine faces an interesting decision.
He thinks they'll keep the old ball for a few more overs.
Warne thinks hitting a length is good to a batsman, but to the tail he should just go the two lengths -- short or very full.
Athers says they went off for bad light 6.47pm the other day.
The over ends and the new ball is due. |

Cummins.
Erasmus says "No". Don't know what the question was, or who asked. (Maybe Leach asked if they'd taken the new ball.)
Around the wicket to Leach.
One ball to warm up and then he takes the new ball.
Speeds down around 84, 83mph.
Beats Leach to end the over.
England 8/186 (81). |
