Well it's Tuesday. Separating into two sections as Collins hasn't taken the practice match into account.
COLLINGWOOD
Quote: | Darcy Moore - Hamstring (TEST) Available for selection.
Matt Scharenberg - Concussion (TEST) Available for selection.
Steele Sidebottom - Ruptured Testicle (TEST) Available for selection.
Brayden Sier - Concussion (TEST) Available for selection.
James Aish - Shoulder (TEST) Available for selection.
Jordan De Goey - Hamstring (TEST) Available for selection.
Josh Thomas - Knee (TBC) Should say test Available for selection.
Ben Reid - Calf and Hamstring (TBC) Should say test |
And the real injury list:
Quote: | Isaac Quaynor - Foot (TBC) Wont be seen until next year.
Nathan Murphy - Neck (TBC) Wont be seen until next year.
Will Kelly - Hamstring (Season)
Mason Cox - Eye (Season)
Dayne Beams - Hip/Shoulder (Season)
Lynden Dunn - Knee (Season)
Tom Langdon - Knee (Season) |

Quote: | Pies coach Nathan Buckley has declared Moore will play in the qualifying final against Geelong on Friday night, while Thomas and Scharenberg also appear set to be passed fit after suffering mishaps in the final round win over Essendon. Stephenson will return after serving his 10-game gambling suspension and Sidebottom, De Goey and Aish are also expected to be available. Sier copped a knock in the Pies' final VFL game for the season while the unlucky Murphy sustained another injury – nerve damage to his neck. It's also unlikely we'll see Quaynor again this season, while Reid also faces an uphill battle. The campaign is already over for Cox, Langdon, Beams and Dunn. - Ben Collins |
Really theres now only 7 guys unavailable, 3 of which would be in our best team. (Langdon, Cox and Beams). All those "tests" either played or trained during the practice match and will train again tomorrow. If we had a VFL game last week, a few of them would have played.
Really looking forward to team selection. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

"Jack Higgins will have brain surgery next week following bleeding in his brain and faces months of rehabilitation...
Director of the Melbourne Brain Centre at the Royal Melbourne Hospital Professor Stephen Davis said, based on the information released by the club, that Higgins' condition was likely to be one of two conditions − cerebral vascular malformation ("birth marks on the brain"), or an aneurysm, ("bubbles on the arteries")."

"JACK Higgins has been booked in for brain surgery this month.
The 20-year-old Richmond forward will require six months recovery from the procedure, and has been told he will be able to resume his football career late next year. "

And then there's this weird statement apparently from the club :
"Dayne continues to meet the challenges he's been open about with the assistance of his family, medical professionals and Collingwood," the club said.
"He was admitted to a Melbourne hospital on Wednesday as a part of his ongoing treatment program".
???? How can a reaction to pain medication be a part of his ongoing treatment program??? I have my interpretations of that, but as the Beams family have asked for privacy, I won't speculate. |

^ Yep; let's hope this story (and inevitable speculation) doesn't gain legs and turn into something big on the eve of our finals campaign...but I suspect it will, because it's Collingwood... _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing |

"“We’ve got cameras on the ground, we’ve got doctors significantly challenging players to see how they feel. I think there’s no better place to be if you’re looking for a head trauma than an AFL footy club. That’s my opinion," he said."
could take that a couple different ways... |

From the Club:
Quote: |
TEST:
Aish (Shoulder)
De Goey (Hamstring)
Reid (Shoulder)
Sidebottom (Groin)
UNAVAILABLE:
Kelly (Hamstring)
Quaynor (Foot)
INDEFINITE:
Beams (Hip/Shoulder)
Cox (Eye)
Dunn (Knee)
Langdon (Knee) |
Moore, Scharenberg, Sier and Thomas are not listed here, which suggests that they have already passed a fitness test and are all available for selection.
No mention of Murphy which is strange.
Ben Reid is listed as a Calf and Hamstring everywhere else. But the club says it's a shoulder. Weird. Regardless he's a test and should be passed fit.
The term "unavailable" and "indefinite" are annoying. I expect IQ and Kelly have been wrapped up until next year. With the 4 indefinites all out until early 2020, retirement aside of course. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

The Collingwood statement appears to indicate to me this health scare is due to his current mental health state.
It's very sad and scary if this was more than an unexpected toxicity or allergic side effect to a pain killer.
