Yes - but, remarkably, he already has a vote in the GB Medal. |

We are without Stephenson for 10 games- any win is a bonus. Currently one from one...
Howe out which is an issue seeing Langdon is MIA.
Not sure when Elliott or Adams are back and Daicos is not a like-for-like for Howe. Perhaps Goldsack might get the call-up? Or Quaynor?
Our depth will surely be tested in the next few weeks with Wells, Beams, Langdon, Elliott, Adams, Stephenson, Scharenberg, Murphy, Allenby, Wills, Murray, not available. _________________ Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away...

^ Scharenberg was good today in the VFL, so he might come in for Howe. |

Get off Varcoe’s back. He made a couple of mistakes but by and large he played well. Let’s not forget he may still be grieving. |

They kicked poorly ..... and lost the match.
We haven't looked that good all year.
But, we are up there.
Thomas and varcoe looking a little underwhelming.
Howe looks gone for a while.... so in comes shazza.
Sidey looked injured in the last minute of the game.
Keep your eyes on that. |

Couldn't view the game but heard most of the first 3 quarters.
Fair to say it wasn't all that inspiring. The second quarter in particular seemed to be dominated by the Dogs.
Got the 4pts which was the goal but 17 scoring shots (43 inside 50's) to 23 (58 inside 50's) tells you that we were somewhat fortunate. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Clearly some people have no idea how to analyse stats, or understand what stats coaches value. Varcoe’s closing speed, pressure acts and contested possessions were very important today. The game was an end to end, exhausting affair. Being able to back up repeatedly was a big factor. Our fitness was tested big time today. Don’t underestimate the Dogs. Their game plan will still bring a few top sides undone. If they could convert better they’d have undone us. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

I’ll take the win thanks but god that was awful! The atmosphere and it was colder than the MCG! Bulldog family in front of us with four feral kids that were the best advert I’ve ever seen for birth control
At least I can go home!!

Nothing pretty about today but 4 points banked and we move on
Howe injured is the only downside
Maybe Shaz comes in but is he match fit yet ?
Reports have him going well in the VFL but it's a big step up to AFL but we all know when he's fit he will be in the starting 18 each week
Maybe move Checkers back and play Daicos forward to provide more pressure inside our attacking 50. We sadly lacked that today
Thought we had 1 tall too many before the game and from watching it we did
Reid played well again but his leg speed is way way off AFL level but his footy smarts make him dangerous |

Reflecting on the stats he was very poor in the first half, 6 disposals. 15 in the second half is the standard he should be at. All up doesn’t get a pass it I guess I’m a tough marker. _________________ The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after. |

Varcoe's games can not be judged on what you see on TV. | clearly I’ll just have to watch TV with my eyes closed. Fancy not believing what you actually see?? But seeing as I had my eyes open I saw him him trotting along like he was at training, I saw him go half hearted at the ball, over run it and even tap it straight to the opposition with a minute to go in the first to see them hit the front. His last qtr was goog but in general he played poorly. Nothing more than that and if I see something I’ll ignore from now on as actually seeing something is not the way to see things. |

Varcoes game:
16 disposals, 10 contested. 81% efficiency.
5 intercepts. 2 turnovers.
6 score involvements and 1 goal assist.
Wouldnt be in the votes, but far from worst on ground. These numbers are what I think we can expect from a 31 year old. It's clear that he is not the player he was when he was a bit younger, but still a valued part of the team. Will make way when the time is right. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |
