Wish the mid year draft had been in place last year, in which case we would have picked up Marty Hore, who would have then gone on to play in our GF side last year. |

Mmm, I'm not so sure about that. We weren't light on for Marty Hore types, in fact we were flush with them; Langdon, Goldsack, Howe, Crisp, Appleby etc are all around Hore's height and play in a similar manner. We needed a genuine tall shutdown defender.
Mid-season trading would've made it really interesting last year. Imagine acquiring Roughead mid way through last year? That's a premiership right there. _________________ Brown re his GF omission:

Maybe we can still get him this year. Would Hawthorn be prepared to release him? |

I pondered that with Roughead and the sounds coming from Dorks (Clarko) is entering the future with youth—-We are currently in Cox absence playing Ben
Would Jarrod be a better option and could he play with Cox for next 18 months _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

How to order the draft? As we now know, it's done in reverse order of the current ladder at the time.
Is this fair? Who knows? Does it really matter? Probably not.
But what about this;
The order of the draft goes in order of the time the LTI/retirement occurred. So if you have lost a player in say March, then you'll have the earlier pick to a club thats lost a player the day before the draft.
When we lost Dunn, we would have had pick 4 or 5, if not better at the time. Now we have pick 13, which could fall if other clubs lose players now.
For example, if the Roos lost a player the day before the draft, then they would get pick 2. It could be any player, it could be the worst player on their list who will be delisted anyway. We lost one of our most important KPP's in Dunn before the season even started and we would end up with a pick in the late teens.
I know the players taken wont be changing much to the AFL landscape, but just a small idea. |
Bulldogs already have a pick after Liam Picken retired. But if they didnt, the Tom Boyd retirement would have pushed us back another spot. I dunno, maybe I'm being silly? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

It’s interesting the retirement situ evolving, and almost as if “planned”
Didn’t know about Pickering till now but Richmond Griggs and Dog,s Boyd are both reasonably young and premiership players
Any other clubs have retired players happening—-none rumoured from us?
Also I wonder if a club had its eyes on a certain player they would pick up and say like Checkers, experienced and around 26 was the one they chased what chance a deal to a veteran to replace with youth would be done _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Pick 1: Carlton take Josh Deluca with pick 1. Former Fremantle player.
Pick 2: Suns take Mitch Riordan with pick 2. 19 year old from the Stingrays.
Pick 3: Dees take Kyle Dunkley from Footscray VFL. Dees lucky I reckon.
Interview with the Dunkleys holding up the draft
Pick 4: Swans take Michael Knoll from the SANFL. Ruckman, 26 years of age, good on him.
Pick 5: North take Lachlan Hosie, 22 year old from the SANFL.
Pick 6: Bulldogs take Ryan Gardner from their VFL team. 21 years old.
Pick 7: Bombers take Will Snelling from the SANFL. Bit of an unknown, Fox have nothing on him. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned!

I think we will.
Gault has been huge since he came back here to Swan Districts. I'd love to see the big fella get another gig. |

Pick 8: Saints take Jack Mayer from the WAFL. 19 year old, Saints done well too I reckon.
Pick 9: Port takes Cameron Sutcliffe from their SANFL team. 27 years old, former Freo player.
Pick 10: Hawks PASS.
Pick 11: Freo takes Dillon O'Reilly from the WAFL. His dad played for Freo.
Pick 12: Crows PASS.
Pick 13: Tigers take Marlion Pickett from the WAFL. Very interesting pick. 27 years old, and a "long term prospect". _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |
