It is not hypocritical to continue doing x while arguing we should all as a group reduce or eliminate x. This is simply an argument for a new social agreement, and that agreement hasn't been made yet. If anything, trying to force one party to start paying switching costs in advance of a new agreement is a sly attempt at freeloading. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Like getting the USA or Australia to neuter our economy in the name of climate change while China and India do what they like. |

No, that's called a concession. Concessions are granted to parties due to contingent or mitigating circumstances which render an action relatively more costly or burdensome to them.
Freeloading occurs when someone who doesn't warrant a concession tries to get others to pay in their stead. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/14/opinion/the-free-speech-hypocrisy-of-right-wing-media.html
What is shocking is that while the right-wing media is wringing its hands about suppressive leftists, openly racist and fascist-sympathizing organizations are recruiting young white people on campuses. That conservative pundits have precious little to say when campuses are defiled with swastikas, nooses and racist fliers but cry foul when people like Richard Spencer, Mr. Yiannopoulos and Ms. Coulter are met with protest has become a sick paradox of our time.
In the coming school years, those who are quick to defend the rights of white nationalists and neo-Nazis to speak on campuses must be just as vigilant about protecting the rights of faculty and students to speak out against them — or risk revealing their hypocrisy. |

The article references the academics: Durden, Williams and Curry.
Now, I defend the right of black racists to say mean things about white people.
However, let's not pretend that such racism is anti-fascism. Unless, of course, like Williams you believe "whiteness is terrorism". |

You've got to adjust that for how despicable and appalling the respective views are. Raw numbers are meaningless. |

......so Nonie Darwish is despicable;
Camille Paglia was considered left leaning at one point not so long ago or does voting for the green party make you a Nazi..
.....If raw numbers are meaningless then the gender pay gap is a myth; right? , or is this just another example of hypocrisy? _________________ Pi = Infinite = Collingwood = Always

If it’s true – and that’s quite arguable – it’d only be because they are the ones, by and large, trying to make the world a better place. Easy to be consistent when one isn’t invested in remedying injustice or (as we see so much from anti-left people nowadays) more interesting in making snarky comments and calling out supposed hypocrisy than actually doing or caring about anything meaningful. Better to try and be found a hypocrite than to not try at all, right? |
You actually got my point. The left, the progressive left in particular, campaign for change (whether for better or worse is subjective) so they've naturally more prone to be caught not acting out the values they espouse everyone else should be following.
Better to try and be found a hypocrite than not try at all is a fair comment, people are human after all, but those who preach to others but act as though it doesn't apply to them get zero sympathy _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Considering that paying people differently for the same work based on gender has been illegal for decades, how about we just call it statistical hyperbole then? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
