Cold lamb is impossible to get unless you cook it yourself and a small leg of lamb costs around 50 dollars. With the current carnage of the beef cattle in the North of Australia I can see Aussie beef going the same way. |

Sorry Jo didn't see this. Chicken is inexpensive. Pork not to bad and fish reasonable (although Thai seafood is rubbish compared to Australia). Beef is not bad if you settle for tough Thai beef. Aussie beef is very much more expensive. Lamb is dearer than duck. Turkey is expensive because the only time you see it is thanksgiving and Xmas and the yanks push up the price.
There is an italian providore near me who has managed to keep prices low and I get the salami for a toasted salami and cheese sambo but would love some rosella sweet mustard pickle to give it some zing.
Occasionally I will make a casserole with Thai beef with peas, carrots, potatoes, onions, tomato and spices.Te secret is to dice the beef and marinate in fresh lime juice overnight in the fridge. Use the rice cooker as a casserole cooker and slow cook it and the beef is tender.
You can buy a chicken carcass for a little over a dollar so we quite often make a soup with veggies with toast a pot lasts 3 days.
They also eat insects and frogs but they are disgusting.
Thai food in Australia is mostly chinese.
The outlaws brought a box of mangoes yesterday. Doesn't quite make up for the excercise machine they swiped last time they were here. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Pass on the insects and frogs.
Tonight we have boneless roast chicken stuffed with apricot and herb seasoning (courtesy of coles) cooked in the air fryer, with mash potato, gravy and steamed broccoli , silver beet and carrot. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Ants are particularly ordinary. Fried tarantulas in Cambodia. Never tried them. Never will. When I go to the village, which I try to avoid, I take cans of SPC baked beans, ham, bega cheese a loaf of bread and some butter. When we go into the province capital I tend to make a beeline for KFC and Dunkin Donuts. The latest addition to the village is an american style icecream soda place but they have yet to add hot dogs and burgers to the menu. There is no bar either. I normally take a carton and a bottle of rum. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

A mate has a pie shop and the oter night he mentioned he was given some lamb and would I like some. Yeah ok . So last night he gives me a heap of it so today when walking Tukky the wonder poodle for a walk I went past the vegie shop and got tomatoes, onions, potatoes, baby corn, mushrooms and decided to make a slow cooked casserole. After preparing the veggies etc I discover the lamb id actually forequarter chops. What the ell continue and in with some spices and slow cooking now, Threw in a can of peas and all spice and some worcestershire sauce. Should be enough for 3 days for 2 of us providing Boom does not scoff it all. Have to get some organic rice (given that free for renewing cable) and away we go. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Nothing wrong with slow cooked forequarter cops.
Last night I did a sausage casserole. Cheap bbq snags with sweet potato and veges in a tomato based sauce.
Tonight doing air fried chicken drumsticks with mash spuds, gravy and steamed greens.
Love the air fryer, hardly used the oven since I bought it. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Just made damn near the perfect SLECT for dinner.
WTF is that I hear you ask? Well, everyone knows what a BLT is, Bacon, Lettuce Tomato.
The SLECT is a variation on that as a form of Steak Sandwich.
Steak, Lettuce, Egg, Cheese Tomato.
2 slices of hot buttered toast, spread hot English mustard on the bottom pieces. Add a medium rare porterhouse steak, then slices of tomato, then cheese, a fried egg (the combined heat of the egg and steak melt the cheese through the egg) then finally some lettuce.
Goddamn brilliant. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Closely resembles the hamburger I had though I replaced the tomato with bacon and wouldn't try mustard even if it was spread on Miranda Kerr's lips. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Cold wet and miserable outside so I've just saved myself some Monday morning stress by knocking out a few work emails and documents.
Now to head to the kitchen and make a pot of lamb shank soup for dinner, to have with some crusty bread. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
